What Makeup Products Can I Use With Eyelash Extensions?

Use only oil free, water based products because the oil in the makeup products can weaken the bond which could result in Eyelash Extensions falling off prematurely. For makeup products, think about how you are going to remove the product at the end of the day safely without damaging the Eyelash Extensions and how the product will wear on your skin after a few hours. As you can see, there are many products which are safe to use and there are many more products out there. What are your favourite products?

If you are in doubt, just check the ingredient list. Stay away from Mineral Oil, Oil, P.E.G. (polyethylene glycol), propylene glycol or other glycol based ingredient products. The higher these ingredients are on the list the higher the concentration of the ingredient within the product. Always use water based and oil free products. Keep all products away from the actual Eyelash Extensions as much as possible and maintain oil control on the skin. Blotting paper is a good way to keep natural oils under control throughout the day. Remember to keep your eyelashes clean and healthy by cleaning them regularly with Lash and Brow cleaner. Preventing any buildup on the lashes is the key.

    1. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern and often ingredient lists can be confusing.
I’m not an expert or scientist on specific ingredients however I did find a great article here https://www.thedermreview.com/butylene-glycol/.
You should always consult your doctor before using any products you are unsure about.
There is a basic scientific rule of thumb when it comes to choosing products that go with eyelash extensions. The glue used in most cases is cyanoacrylate based which is a polar molecule.
Polar molecules are dissolved or broken down by other polar molecules and vice versa.
So since cyanoacrylate is polar, products that contain more polar molecules should be avoided around the eye area as they will break down the glues structure.
Butylene glycol is not a solvent. It is a type of wax found in mascaras and does not dissolve adhesives.
      I hope that helps.
      Regards,
      Amanda.
