Congratulations!! Getting married is the one of the most exciting times in our lives. As a young girl, we dream about what type of wedding we would like. Spending months deciding what we want to wear, what the bridesmaids will wear, the theme and color scheme. I don’t know about you but most of my wedding decisions were based on Disney weddings at a young age. We would never have imagined having eyelash extensions and they probably didn’t exist while we were doing all this planning as a young girl. They all had big eyes and eyelashes!
Most brides wouldn’t even consider eyelash extensions at all but they can really save the day. For most Brides, they think of false eyelashes as the best way to go and most makeup artists would recommend either strip lash or individual clump lashes for a more natural look but if you really want great lashes, then eyelash extensions are the best solution.
I’m Getting Married! Should I get Eyelash Extensions?
Here are some reasons why you should choose eyelash extensions for your big day.
- Eyelash extensions will not fall out during the day.
- You can be as emotional as you like without the worry of mascara running down your cheek. You won’t even need mascara!
- Eyelash extensions will last not only on your wedding day but right through your honeymoon as well. Even in the pool!
- They look natural. People will think you have naturally beautiful lashes and we won’t tell them otherwise.
- They photograph beautifully.
- If it rains you won’t have mascara running down your face, lose cluster lashes falling onto your cheek or strip lashes coming off.
- The eyelash extensions can be customized to enhance your eye shape and face shape. They are not a one size fits all like false eyelashes. Perfectly designed for you.
- You get to choose the right length and thickness for the overall look you want to achieve.
- You won’t wake up the next morning with lashes on your pillow if you are having too much fun and forget to take your makeup off.
How long before the wedding should I get eyelash extensions?
I always recommend getting eyelash extensions 3 days prior to the wedding day. This will give the glue enough time to “cure” and be ready for makeup application. If you have never had eyelash extensions before then try them out a couple months before the wedding day. This way you can try them out to make sure they are comfortable and there are no allergic reactions to the glue. It is very rare that a reaction could occur but it’s always a good idea just in case.
You also get to test out which lengths and style you like. Eyelash Extensions can be changed prior to the wedding if you want the overall look to be more subtle or fuller. It’s also a good idea to have the eyelash extensions in place prior to a makeup trial. Your makeup artist can adjust and get used to working with eyelash extensions, especially if they have never worked with them before. They can also change their products if they are using makeup with oil in it. We don’t want oily products ruining the lash adhesive.
What shape and style is best suited for Brides?
This will depend on the bride’s overall look and style of the wedding. The most flattering Eyelash Extensions for brides is choose the faux mink synthetic lashes. These are very natural looking, lightweight and will give a mascara look in the 0.18mm thickness. The bride can choose from 3 styles or a combination of Glam, Cat Eye or Natural full set. Instead of going for the extra-long length, I recommend you go no longer than 30% of your natural lash length. It’s better to have more lashes applied for a fuller look then less long lashes. The overall look will also last longer. A 2D, 3D or Russian Volume lashes are another option for a fuller look.
Is there anything else I should do prior to getting eyelash extensions?
Yes. You should ensure you have all your facials done prior to your eyelash extension appointment. We need those lashes to be clean and healthy so the adhesive bonds the best it can. Consult with your technician prior to your appointment to make sure you are happy and comfortable with them. Do your homework and make sure the eyelash extensions technician is qualified and you’ve seen their before and after pictures. Another thing you can do is talk to their clients and ask questions to be sure the technician is the right fit for you.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, if they are professionals, they won’t mind answering your questions and will even welcome suggestions. Wear comfortable clothes to your appointment. You should get some last-minute rest and relaxation. Let all your stress and worry fade away, this is your time. Enjoy your new lovely lashes and have fun on your wedding day.
Eyelash Extensions are not just for the Bride on the wedding day. Bridesmaids, mother of the bride. mother of the groom, aunties, cousins or anyone else that might have a little tear on the special day. Eyelash Extensions can be customized to suit everyone.
